Osmosis Philosophy & Science
Our clean, non-toxic professional skincare is founded on doctor-developed, clinically validated, and proven results that are patented, tested, and trusted. Each of our innovative products is designed and formulated to help create real, visible changes in the skin.
We do this by looking at skincare through a holistic lens.
Rooted in the science of the skin-body connection, we go more than skin deep to target the source of common concerns. Osmosis combines the most effective detox strategies with medical-grade, non-toxic, topical formulas and strategic facial services to achieve authentic transformations and overall well-being. Our bodies are constantly showing us what they need; all we have to do is understand the clues.
Our approach is based on treating the whole self; focuses on holistically healing, not harming, features ingredients essential to activate repair; uses pharmaceutical-grade delivery systems; and treats challenging skin conditions no one else can.
Over 10 years ago, we were inspired by the bold mind of our innovative founder, Ben Johnson, MD, to create non-toxic skincare products and treatments that combine the purity of naturally sourced ingredients with revolutionary, doctor-developed, and scientifically validated formulas to deliver products that really work. Our clinical trials and before-and-after photos prove that this approach is leading skincare into a new paradigm.
About Ben Johnson, MD | Founder and Formulator
Ben Johnson, MD is a physician, inventor, and entrepreneur who has spent the last 25 years dedicated to solving some of the world’s most challenging skin and health conditions. He holds multiple patents related to skincare and wellness as a result of his unparalleled research and philosophies pertaining to the skin-body connection.
Dr. Johnson founded Osmosis Beauty with a revolutionary approach that is changing the direction of skin care away from excessive exfoliation and renewing the focus of dermal remodeling, barrier and DNA repair, and detoxification. He has found that the skin and body are capable of healing themselves with the proper tools and the removal of toxic influences.
Liposomal Delivery System
Our ingredients are coated with a liposome called phosphatidylcholine that has been shown to increase product penetration by 600%. Phosphatidylcholine is a unique phospholipid because of its structure: choline head and essential fatty acid chains which are similar to our cell membranes. When used to coat ingredients, it naturally enhances penetration into the cell as well as protects it during delivery.
Intercellular lipids like phosphatidylcholine are essential for corneocyte cohesion, and therefore the quality of the skin barrier, which prevents the evaporation of water, resulting in smoother skin, increased moisture level, and skin regeneration. Studies also show high levels of linoleic acid to improve acne.
Zinc Finger Technology
Zinc fingers are used by all cells in the repair and formation of DNA, RNA, and proteins. They are composed of an atom of zinc that holds two loops of protein together to form a “finger.” Our Zinc Finger Technology utilizes the key components of zinc fingers that encourage their formation and activation in the skin. This results in increased DNA repair and wound healing. Osmosis uses zinc fingers to aid in the repair of damaged DNA by “turning on” the repair gene so the damage can be “cut” out. Key ingredients in Osmosis’ DNA repair serums help facilitate this process.
Repairing damaged DNA impacts several aspects of skin health including rebuilding collagen, providing sun protection, pigment control and normalization, scar prevention, healing “broken” capillaries, and overall healing the skin.
Growth factors are produced by the body to control growth, division, and maturation of cells. They are what regulate the division and the production of cells. When growth factors are utilized in products, they have two major benefits: protect the skin and stimulate growth of new cells. The growth factors that are secreted from adult human stem cells benefit all skin conditions.
We choose to use growth factors because we can obtain hundreds of them from stem cells, and when applied topically to the skin, we can encourage multiple cell type growth to repair and replace damaged cells.
Exosomes are made by the cells to package and protect the growth factors and cytokines for more efficient delivery. The exosome is an intelligent “micro-sphere,” which has molecules (peptides and polysaccharides) that have special movement, navigational, and targeting properties. It can easily move through tissues and deliver contents to neighboring cells.
- Adult stem cells are derived from fat cells.
- Stem cells are transferred to a culture containing specific growth media.
- Stem cells begin dividing. During this process their growth factors are secreted.
- 600+ growth factors and cytokines are secreted from the division of stem cells.
- We collect the growth factors by separating out the highest percent and leave the stem cells behind to continue division and creation of growth factors.
